A MIDI Controller for the Roland JX-3P, JX-8P, MKS-30, MKS-50, MKS-70, Juno 1 and Juno 2
Rainer Keizer (Planeshifter) became a MIDI Designer user in August of 2012 and immediately got to work on layouts for his Roland synths. As a vocal MIDI Designer user, he’s done a lot to change the App. And he’s also the first and biggest MIDI Designer Evangelist.
But it’s this layout for Roland synths from the 1980s that put MIDI Designer on the map.

The Layout
This layout is as intelligently designed as it is beautiful. The author tried to “cram in as many performance-related controls as possible, so tweaking the most important (imho ofc!) parameters can be done with XY controls and even sweeps.”
Instructions for Use
- Download MIDI Designer Pro X
- Check out the instructions, screenshots, a short video and the read me file on the Community Site.
- Long press on the latest version of the MIDI Designer layout and use “Open In…” to open it in MIDI Designer Pro or Lite.
- Find all the frog faces!
