Which Midi parameter for IOS->Preferences->general->Accessibility->Switch control? - MIDI Designer Q&A

What does "when assigning a bluetooth midi controller button " refer to exactly?
A guitar wing bluetooth midi controller or mididesigner pro 2 on a iphone for testing
I'm not fully comprehending this entire thing, however: what are you seeing in the MIDI log inside MD, if anything?
Hi Dan, it is a midi - not specifically MD - topic. The process is relatively easy to copy if you create a switch control with a apple bluetooth keyboard and activate switch control in IOS->Preferences->General->Accessibility-> Switch control. If you do, you will notice that IOS recognises midi input but switch control does not respond to a midi button press where it does respond to a keypress. I adressed the same question to Apple.
I tried different sorts of midi data: note on/off, CC, PC, etc.
So there's NO evidence that the Switch control is responding to bluetooth MIDI at all, right?
There is evidence: you can assign a switch to a bluetooth midi control.
It responds, try it out.
But: when activating switch control there seems to be no response.
It does not act the same as a keypress.
is the bluetooth thing sending an ON and an OFF?
The bluetooth thing is a livid instruments guitar wing.
It can send all kinds of midi data.
At the risk of sounding stupid: what is ON an OFF in this situation?
Can you see the MIDI in MDP? If you can then you'll see if it does two values, one on press and one on release
Thanks Dan, Livid instruments replied also:

I admit: pretty nerdy this one but this way it is possible to switch wireless presets in a closed app with NO MIDI support! The mobile pod from line6 is pretty good so...
Results: it is possible to assign midi controller to IOS switch control. The midi data had to be a midi note with on/off. In combination with recipes and custom gestures you can trigger almost every on screen button. In this case it is possible to open up a great guitar amp app with no midi support and create a workaround to trigger presets and turn effects on or off.
Hi, I was wondering if you still had the video as it no longer is available on Youtube.

Thanks
No it is not available anymore, this was pretty experimental and I stopped at that point.
Ok NP, I realize it was a while ago, but I'm trying to do something similar.

Do you still have the details of the conversions that you had to perform (i.e. the format of the Midi data/commands you sent to correctly trigger switch control)?

Thanks
First: I found the video back in my iCloud collection.

Here goes:
What I did with this controller: I assigned a midi note to the buttons and defined the note in the apple system preferences as a trigger. I think.
But that’s a long time ago
Realise this is an old thead, and sadly the videos no longer play, but did you have to use a MIDI to Keystroke Converter (eg  midiStroke) to get Guitar Wing to control items using Switch Control?
I can get Switch Control to assign an external bluetooth midi switch but like your first post nothing happens when activating switch control. What was the magic that that got this working ? :)
Good question! I uploaded a vid from my vault. I really have to get back into this but the need for using this old line 6 app is gone for me.
