Sysex Positive Negative knob shows 0 but synth shows -1

Question

MIDI Target Manufacturer(s): Korg

When using negative & positive sysex values such as for detune or interval, the zero point sends 7F 7F instead of 00 00 when increasing from -3 towards 0, but works properly when going from 3 to 0. When my control knob in MIDIDesigner is showing zero, my synth parameter on the LCD shows -1.

I used instructions at the link below to make my supercontrol and subcontrol knobs.

How can I get 0 coming from both - and + side of the knob instead of having to twist past the zero point into the positive area on the knob, then turn back counterclockwise to get the synth and knob to both show 0?

The issue is that the supercontrol "START LVL" needs to be a of a MIDI message type that supports more than 128 values. Easiest thing to do is set it to NRPN (0-16K). You could use sysex, but then you'd need to add a V in the sysex string and THEN set the number of bytes to 2.
