Notes sending an octave lower than value set in Channel-Note - MIDI Designer Q&A

in Defect (Is this broken?) by bigblackwave (190 points)
I'll have to put a proper answer here soon, but the short of it is that there's some ambiguity as to which is C1, or at least that was my understanding when I implemented this (and Snoize MIDI Monitor reflects this ambiguity, too). However, if I dive into it and find out that one is right and the other is wrong, I'll change MD to reflect it. Thanks for pointing this out.

Also: what did you search on? Need to keyword this question appropriately.
Searched for permutations of keywords in/out of quotes to the tune of "note value octave sending" - maybe a simple workaround is to have an octave offset button for such occasions? Assuming that's the standard deviation?
Great, yes, I'll contemplate this and the implications. Thanks!
Out of curiosity, which implementation recognizes MD's C1 as C1 and not C0?
That's the question, but if you want to google about a bit and see if there's any truth to this, I'd be grateful.
http://www.music.vt.edu/musicdictionary/appendix/octaveregisters/octaveregisters.html and http://www.arlington.plus.com/sub-pages/midi%20note%20names.htm seem relatively reputable sources of information on the topic. I think if it were as simple as being able to offset the notes by X that could be convenient, but it's not by any means a show-stopper as you can just manually change it.
Thanks for checking that out. I agree that, at the very least, it would useful to have this as an option. I might implement this going forward. For now, it's wrong about half the time.
