Mdp2 as bridge between old midi controller and new DAW - MIDI Designer Q&A

Don't know enough to have an opinion, but a few questions.  What is the role of MDP2 and the iPad?  MDP2 can transform/remap one midi format to another.  But if the TASCAM is sending recognizable Midi messages, you should just be able program Logic to recognize whatever the 1082 is sending.  If the problem is getting the right settings into the 1082, maybe you could borrow a Windows machine long enough to reprogram the 1082.  If the 1082 isn't sending recognizable messages, MDP2 isn't going to help.

For each message, in one direction, you need at least two MDP2 controls.  One to read the inbound message -> one to send outbound.

If you want to try with MDP2, nothing lost (but time) in starting with one control and seeing if you can make it work, inbound and outbound.  That will tell you if it is a feasible project.  And once one is working, it is really just rinse and repeat (or umpteen make similars).
Good questions. I think it would be possible without MDP2 because of Logic X midi capabilities. As soon as I find the power adapter of this thing I’m gonna try a few things out. The reasons behind this kind of projects are probably fondness of the old gear and finding a new way to use it ( Recycle). I am gonna try this with one fader.

Use another pc / Mac as a bridge. (Non MDP2 solution)
