Thanks you for reporting!

Workaround: Just delete the label text.

Why the Workaround Is Annoying

The label text is useful for identifying controls!

Fix: Coming in 2.160; it's already in Beta.

Need more info to troubleshoot

We need more information to troubleshoot what is happening.  Maybe a screenshot of the problem control in design mode.

I can create a video ... it's not much to show though; create a new layout, create a panel with a label, click the button to hide label, exit design mode. The label is still there.

Here's a screenshot:

I don’t see the button that would control the show / hide function. You need to add a toggle button, then select it where you see the dash in the box titled “button shows / hides”.

Or if you want to hide in play mode, click that button.
Sorry if I'm unclear - the hide panel function works fine. It's the label on the panel that won't hide. The text "label" stays as a repeated background on the panel.

Sorry, I was focused in too much on the new feature.  I have never used panel labels, because I never see a use case for the repeated text across the box.  But now I see what you mean.   Looks like something to investigate.  Recommend just deleting the label, because its only purpose is to splash the text across the panel.
Yes, I'll do that. It's the first time I want labels on panels - the layout I'm updating will have 28 of them that show or hide, and they will all now have the name "Control" which makes it less easy to know which one I'm editing. It will work for now though, I can look at the name of the show/hide button to know where I am.
Dan - looks like this is a confirmed bug.
Oh that! Whew I thought it was a bug in Show/Hide Panels! Will fix, thanks.
Okay fix is going up and will be in next Beta, thanks everybody.
Thank you fretnomore and JK, glad for the report and clarification!
