Hi and thanks for your question. I placed an answer below, but if anything is not clear, I would be happy to go another round (or rounds) on this question. Thanks for checking out MIDI Designer!
How do I get to this properties screen?
mr-x please check out the tutorial at http://midiDR.com/video to get a general orientation. Then Sysex properties are available for controls whose MIDI Message Type has been switched to sysex by tapping on the field called "Sysex Bytes in Hex"...
"tapping on the field called "Sysex Bytes in Hex"" was the step I was missing.
Thank you very much!
That's great. We use those tappable text fields everywhere in MIDI Designer, so this should open up a lot of doors. Thx!

Hi and thanks for your question.

When you enter the sysex properties (change the control to type sysex, first), you will see this box:

Use the V key on the keyboard (or with an external keyboard, type "v" or "V") in the position in which you would like the value to be placed. The bottom field--"bytes in value"--determines how many MIDI bytes the value will take up in your string.

The LSB-first option also pertains to the value: it reverses the order of the bytes in the value.
