Using iTunes, take your entire Documents directory (using iTunes File Sharing), zip it and send it to support [at] mididesigner.com and refer to this qa7817. We'll take a look. We don't have an SE to test with, but might be able to get some leverage anyway.
I dropped the reference to the other thread: not relevant. Let's focus on getting you sorted. Thanks for your patience.
OK, I've sent the email with the zipped contents of MIDI Designer's documents folder.
Thanks we will have a look this weekend if not before
Weird, on iPhone Xr (device) and on iPhone SE (simulator) everything is working perfectly. Let's dig a bit deeper here.
@jimmy we're not seeing the zipped contents of that folder. You can't send to the "zendesk" address... it has to be support at mididesigner.com otherwise the attachment will get removed. Thanks.
We just borrowed an iPhone SE and tried out MD. Saves, loads, connects and works perfectly. Are you using a Beta or Jailbroken iOS? Can you delete and reinstall the App? Thanks!
I definitely sent to the support at mididesigner dot com address. I've just replied to Dan's email from that address and re-sent the zip file. Meanwhile, I can try re-installing the app. My phone's OS isn't jailbroken or beta.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the app. After a quick test, I'm now able to save and load layouts I've created. But I'm not able to import a layout. When opening the layout file for coolquentin's OP-Z layout in iOS's Files app, I choose the "Copy to MIDI Designer" option, and then it says, "Problem restoring, rolling back." I get the same result when opening a layout I created before the reinstall. At first, it gave me the option to append or not, and I tried both, but the layout was nowhere to be found. Now, I only get the "problem restoring" message.

After uninstalling and re-installing again, I'm able to get the append or not option. When I say yes, I get the message, "All good, restored" but there's no effect on the current layout. When I say no, I get the "Problem restoring, rolling back" message.
I just saved a new, slightly modified default layout as a test, emailed it to myself, then uninstalled/reinstalled the app again. Using iOS's Files app, I still get the same failure to import behavior. Using Browse, I was able to load the System Editor for reface CS layout from the community. But I'm not able to import .mididesigner files using Files, which is the main thing I want to do to get coolquentin's OP-Z layout, and also be able to back up my own layouts to disk for later loading, or loading on another device.
One note is that you cannot use the files app. Use “open in” from Dropbox or mail. Another thing is that you shouldn’t use append, especially on a memory constrained device like the SE. Try loading one of the iPhone layouts from Browse
As I said above, Browse successfully loaded the System Editor for reface CS layout from the community. But Browse only shows community stuff, and I can't use Browse to load my own local stuff, right?

Dropbox is not an option from my location. I tried opening directly from Mail, which worked. It's the same "Copy to MIDI Designer" button as the Files app, so it's confusing that this doesn't work in Files, but at least there's a workaround.
We’ve got a fix for this in beta. Will know soon if it’s worth testing.
at the same time you know you can open the stuff directly from Config -> Actions -> Load Layout, right? That's working in the Lab for all devices
Well, yes, After reporting that I couldn't do that in the original post, you suggested in the 6th response to uninstall/reinstall the app, and in the 8th response, I reported that the problem was fixed. We then turned to the import problem. To verify again: yes, I can now open layouts from Config -> Actions -> Load Layout.
So the reinstall WAS critical? Also, want to beta test? It's a separate app/icon, so no risk there.
Yeah, but I have no idea why. It was exactly the same load problem as in the other thread I originally linked to: hitting the "load" button with s saved preset selected flashed the button, but there was no effect at all. In that other thread, the solution was some kind of update privately communicated to the user, so I had to post my own thread.

I don't have time to beta test. As a new user, having just gotten MIDI Designer working, I have a lot of set up to do with my gear.
Thanks, glad we got you sorted, enjoy!
