did you manually place 4 and sometimes 6 labels around those knobs? Nice detail, great looking layout, great/fun MIDI target. You've been busy!
Yes, manually placing them is the only way I think really.

It's been a lovely quiet work week, this is a happy distraction :)
Dude! Very cool. I dont have a Voyager, but Im going to have to get hold of a copy of Omnisphere Im thinking. This new ability to emulate hardware synth panels seems really cool. Hey Noiseboy, tell me, do you prefer the computer interface on Omni for control, or or do you find creating patches on the MD2 panel is more inspirational?

Cheers
Brett
Hi Brett, well the important thing to realise about these shiny new hardware profiles in Omnisphere is that they can only ever control about 1% of Omnisphere's boundless options.  IMO Omni is actually a really good interface given that mind-boggling variety of synthesis options.  But of course its nothing like the experience of hands-on old school programming, and that's where these profiles come in.  By conforming to the architecture of these classic synths, you program in a way entirely consistently with them - it changes how you program in other words.  It's not identical sonics to the original synths, but they are pretty damn close.

There are synths like the Prophet X which would have much broader control of Omni, but are so cumbersome given that they'd need many many pages and there's a critical lack of visual response of stuff like sound source browsing, I really think just using Omni in the regular way would be preferable.  I sort of have a rule of no more than 2 pages for most programming functions, maybe a third for a few performance settings, and also to have good space around the controls so you're not always accidentally activating neighbouring ones.  I dislike very cluttered layouts.  Tablets are vastly inferior to physical controls, so you want to give yourself the easiest ride possible imo.

All in all - I think these are terrific for programming Omni in the manner of classic synths, but mission creep into more general programming is a rapid law of diminishing returns.
So "KISS" is the keyword...(keep it simple stupid) lol. Totally agree. I have a deep love of programming and utterly love using the computer to make sound (im not an analog purist, but still love analog), my goal, 25 years ago was to eventually get rid of all the hardware and just have a really BIG computer. But, I was shocked by how "workflow" (meaning interface's) defined what sounds I was making in the studio.
That's a great methodology with MD2, keep your page counts down. I try my hardest to fit all the "playable" controls on the front page, and the less used to the back. I use it "mainly", to bring large screens to rack mounted synths, I found they never got used because I hated the interface. I use a 12.9 inch tab so my layouts dont scale well sometimes to smaller sizes.
After seeing these interfaces of yours and looking at the demos on youtube, Ive just ordered a copy of Omni, I told my wife it was your fault lol
Oh yeah and I love what you did with the dials on this layout with the labels around the circumference, it looks really cool, Im gonna have to steal your idea sorry. ;)
Cheers
Aaaaggh - sorry thedood's wife!  Omni is a terrific synth though, sure you will enjoy.  It is a bottomless pit, one reason why these profiles are nice to try from time to time as it makes it much more contained.  100% agree that interfaces are everything.  Can't quite justify an iPad Pro at this point, but you'd definitely fit way more on to a page than I have that way - feel free to throw things around for the bigger format of course :)
Wow, noiseboyuk had an artist make waveforms for this. FTW!
Dude! those waveform piccies look damn nice! I love this layout. It looks like a dedicated app.
Can I "borrow" those waveform pics? lol oh and Im installing Omni this weekend, I told the wife I needed the money for a "lawnmower part". Now I just have to keep her away from this months bank statement.
Cheers
Yes indeed, I think the MDP folks will find a proper home for them at some point, but in the meantime here's a zip https://www.dropbox.com/s/dh0hlm3dbe10wtf/Waveform%20Icons.zip?dl=0 .  There's 11 waveforms, in white, black and blue.
Appending a layout MIGHT bring in its images, so that might be a way to go. Pages don't carry images, yet.
Hey noiseboyuk! Thankyou!! for the zip. Sorry buddy Ive been away with work, very much appreciated!
Holy crap dude I am LOVING omnisphere! Youre right, this thing is a rabbit hole! I wanna get the KeyScape library, that thing sounds amazing.
I just bought a nice second hand DSI Mopho so Im back in design mode, I think Ive spent more time this year building layouts than actually playing...damn you Dan! haha

Cheers

I hear that, dood: building stuff is compelling in a different way. As long as you're doing interesting stuff, though, it's all in service of art.
