Change sounds from background synth apps

Question

Hi - I am looking for a solution to use in a live performance situation.

I want to be able to have several synth apps running in the background, each assigned their own sound and MIDI channel (SampleTank piano sound on #1, SampeWiz synth sound on #2, ThumbJam guitar sound on #3...etc). I play these sounds using my Alesis QX61 connected via Alesis iODock station.

Can I create a screen with "on" and "off" buttons with MIDI Designer? I want to hit button 1 and hear my piano sound, then hit button 2 to hear my synth, hit button 3 and hear my guitar sound... is this possible?

If not, please help lead me in the right direction - thank you very much!

Hi and thanks for your question. Hopefully someone will chime in who has those particular apps, but I think they all have virtual MIDI. In the worst case scenario, you could map a button in MIDI Designer to a volume on each synth. Then you could make a button group with your buttons. Does that make sense?

Had not thought about assigning a "volume" button...I will try that using the free version. I really thought I could create on/off buttons to each sound via their MIDI channel. Thanks for your quick response. I will update this message if it works.

There may be an input on-off or something in each of the synths, but I wouldn't expect any particular consistency. Good luck and let me know what you find out, please.
