Is there an elegant solution for covering possible combinations of 4 buttons? - MIDI Designer Q&A

You've got 16 combinations there. The worse case scenario is that we do a button group for all 16. I'm thinking of how else to do this with the super- subcontrol paradigm, and I'll respond soon with a bright idea (hopefully) or a "no idea." It's a pretty strange case. What's in the A, B, C, and D sysexes? I doubt it, but maybe we can work something out using sysex "values."
Sorry for the delay (sleep).

I still don't get how to have a toggle on 16 buttons so that only one can be lit at any time but, although it looks messy in the template, it would be a last resort I would gladly take :)
Hi, first off, button groups http://www.google.com/search?q=button+groups+midi+designer  Secondly, those values are probably regular values spreading across two bytes. Try plugging the two bytes into the MIDI Byte Calculator (http://mididesigner.com/help/midi-byte-calculator) and see what they look like.  First one is http://mididesigner.com/help/midi-byte-calculator/?midi_bytes=65 and second one is http://mididesigner.com/help/midi-byte-calculator/?midi_bytes=01+64. Keep going and see if the pattern is regular. We're interested in the value the Byte Calc shows at the bottom.
Thanks for the info (lots that went over my head though).  I decided to just list all the variations and use the button groups option.  I have used toggle but have noticed a couple of strange things!

Although I can toggle through the selections, hitting the same button again causes the toggle to un-highlight.  I don't want to go for another button to cycle those options really if it can be avoided.  Using the momentary option works better as it seems to select the options without fail but the option does not stay highlighted.

I have also noticed these toggle switches seeming to get somehow mixed up and not keeping to the same order.  I will of course have to look further into this as there is clearly not enough data for you to look into it.

For the records, I am about 40% done on my JD990 template at this time and the slider parts of this app work fantastically.  I have many other hardware synths I would like to create templates for as your program evolves.  I hope some kind of drop-down menu option gets added too!

 Thanks again.
Hi and thanks for your comment. I just put up this new question and answer for you: http://mididesigner.com/qa/658/step-through-the-buttons-in-a-button-group. Basically you need to have a momentary button which is a supercontrol of the knob that controls the button group. Thanks!
