Hey there, we’ve had an interesting conversation about this topic offline via email. Can you update with where you are in the process? A lot of the work is going to be on you to figure out what will do what for you, of course, as is the DIY process.

Thanks!
I've been poking away at it, but so far I don't think Midi Designer Pro 2 is what I have been looking for. I'm realizing that I'm basically trying to replicate the environment I had in Windows with Ableton Live. I want something like a vst hosting environment and maybe iOS isn't capable of this (yet?).

So if I were to add to my requirements, I'd like to be able to turn on the app (such as MDP2) and have it "call" iGrand Piano, iLectric Piano, Galilleo Organ, etc. at will when I hit a button. It seems to me now that I need a multitasking environment and iPads may not handle that well? I'm under the impression that I will need to set up the midi receive channel for each instrument app (and make sure they are set to run in the background), and open them individually along with MDP2. Then MDP2 may allow me to control in real time certain parameters, but there's still a lot of setup required each time I want to have a performance session.

Does that sound right or am I missing something?
While it sounds right to me, it’s a larger topic that you should discuss with other iOS musicians. I would start with the Audiobus forums, but also there’s an iPad Musician Group on FB that might be a good place to discuss. But yeah, it’s definitely not a computer in that sense, IMO

Thanks!

Thanks - I just wish I hadn't dropped the cash on MDP2 when it looks like I need Audiobus3 or AUM instead. From everything I can see, MDP2 is a great piece of software, just not the one I need.
Hey there, Apple makes the rules regarding refunds, controls the till and takes 100% of your device purchase money and 30% of your App purchase. They will refund in many cases, so give it a go. You’ll find a use for MD eventually in your rig, sounds like...
