How do i Create a Tempo controller for Mainstage that also displays the returned tempo value?

I have a couple of other things about this that I’d like to do as well, since Logic Remote can’t control tempo or even display it as far as I know.

I’m using MainStage and I want to give my iPad to the drummer so he can start / stop / mute the Mainstage metronome tempo as he needs.

Attached is a screenshot of what I’ve done so far. The Set Tempo knob DOES change the tempo BUT doesn’t change in exact beat increments - sometimes skips one beat, sometimes a fraction of a beat. I’m sure I don’t have a value correctly set. The INCREMENT Buttons work as well but again, not in whole beats sometimes and sometimes skips a beat and goes up/down two, sometimes nothing.

I’d REALLY like to have a display for the tempo value in MainStage so that when I jump to a patch, the saved value the temp jumps to is displayed. Then the drummer can change it with the incremental buttons.

The tempo display doesn’t have to be in the Set Tempo knob - it can be a separate display.

While the short answer is "I don't know," the longer answer is that it depends on MainStage, which I haven't seen in a few years. Ableton, for one, sends this information back nicely, but anyway...

Have a look with Snoize MIDI Monitor and see what's going on. That's one side of it. The other side is to get on MainStage forums and see what people have to say. Please do come back here with your findings.

Someone told us recently that Mainstage is sending back parameter info, again, after taking a short break for a few years.

Thank you! I’ll look into it. Would love to also have a Novation Impulse layout as I use it mostly for Hammond b3. Great action for that.
