as expected , user error.
the option can be toggled and it remembers on the next button :)
i can now make a lot of buttons that snap to sample start values instead of endless dialing and tiny tweaks to hit 0,5,10,15

hi

after a few days i've found that if the 'unused' lettering is white and you 'make similar' it'll continue to be white , allowing you to easily select a cc

making a fresh slider / button the 'unused' lettering will be blue , i.e only allow you to assign an unused , or possibly assign an unused one automatically.

in practice i've made a set of sliders and buttons that are setup how i like (named ticks , size etc) and are now using make similar. i then update the cc's and use a panel to make them send on the relevant midi channel.
