Great, thanks for that! I am using Wavelab mostly for processing samples for use in a sampler. However I often feel that Wavelab is too big and powerful for such simple tasks. This might help in the workflow, will check it definitely.

Hello.
I have installed a layout for Wavelab by Steinberg and have successfully connected to the app on my windows 10 PC.
I assumed when I purchased your app that this "layout" for wavelab would function out of the box - but it appears to me I must go in and map each button to the wavelab function myself. This makes no sense. Have I missed a step? Did I make a bad assumption? How do I get Wavelab to respond to this Layout without manually editing the map - which is blank in Wavelab now for this midi device. I have made one trigger from this midi designer layout work in wavelab but I dont get the point of a layout if they don't map to the app they were designed for.

I'm sure this is a dumb question from a new customer with little midi experience - and your help will be most appreciated.

Hi Leif,
I'm Michel Lafontaine the creator of this layout. I made this layout for my personal workflow  and I don't use Wavelab Pro 9.5 without this. I just uploaded a PDF file to simplify the midi learn process. Make sure that you have the right Midi in-port in the remote devices and open the Preferences----shortcuts section.Click on the  Expand button. Using the PDF click on the right shortcut and touch the corresponding button in Mididesigner. There is a file ''MidiControl'' in C: >User > User >AppData > Roaming > Steinberg > Wavelab Pro 9.5 > Preferences that is probably where the Midi control are stored. If you want my file let me know. Hope this help.
I’ll gladly take you up on your file offer!  I am assuming I can import that and then modify the great work you have done with your layout to suit my workflow. I’m assuming I can unlock the layout - and modify some of the buttons and save the results.
I find the help features to be very robust in Wavelab but skimpy on the subject of midi mapping. Your layout is a way for me to learn by reverse engineering.
Thank you so much!!
Hi Leif,
I uploaded the MidiControl file. Move your MidiControl file from C: >Users > User >AppData > Roaming > Steinberg > Wavelab Pro 9.5 > Preferences to a safe place and copy my MidiControl to this folder. Probably you be able to run the layout without any other mapping BUT I never tried. Let me know if it's works and yes you can modify the layout to suit your workflow.
Thank you!  I'll use the PDF and do the manual setup as you originally suggested and go from there.  You have been very helpful!
You welcome, let me know if you have a question.
Your pdf was a big help and works well with only 1 exception. They record key, I’m getting a different trigger Control change 22 not 23 as denoted in your pdf. The stop key midi event from the app is 23 so neither the start or stop keys work. Yes, the record window opens as expected but the record start and stop are off.   If I were not a newbie I would know how to correct that but I’m still learning. I’m thrilled to have your help and should soon have a good understanding of how midi designer works.
You're right the PDF is wrong. In Record Window > Start  CC 22 and Stop CC23. The Transport > Open Record Window is CC22 like Start. You can use only the Record Window button to cycle between Open-Record-Stop-Record-Stop, etc.
Hope this help
Thank you Michel for your help and support with this!
