Hi there and welcome aboard. 


There is no way to have MIDI Designer add a suffix, you can do all of that via Named Ticks (which you've already noted).

Have you seen loading of named ticks from a file

Here's an example, and another example. Using Excel or something of that nature and coming over through a notepad editor (like Notesy) can be very helpful.


Regarding Ableton and mapping to anything of that nature... it's an empirical thing (i.e., trial and error) and your findings would be most appreciated if you shared them on this thread. The cool thing about Ableton is that if you use Host Automation -- the blue, MIDI-mapping mode -- then it's bidirectional... So you can have Ableton tell you what values you're interested in.

One thing to note: a MIDI Monitor, like Snoize MIDI Monitor or Mac or MIDI-OX on Windows, is of great utility. There's also a LOG function in MIDI Designer.
