Display Note On with slider? - MIDI Designer Q&A
Display Note On with slider?
0
votes
I would like to use a slider to show the current note value for a channel - a bit like a VU meter. I've tried creating a slider with MIDI receive enabled and it doesn't change until it sees the single value assigned to it. Is there a way to achieve this?
Thanks.

It's a great idea. Right now the slider would show the velocity of the note, which is not what you want. To combine notes like that you need to use MidiBridge (we're big fans and we work with Audeonic on musicIO) or MidiFlow (don't know them much)... you're trying to combine MIDI notes into one and translate note to velocity.

Here's the code you'll need in StreamByter, part of
MidiBridge by Audeonic

Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't got MidiBridge - it looks great. Just need to weigh up adding the complexity to my setup.
I completely understand. At some point we might wrap this into MD as an IAP, but we're not aware of a ton of people who need this. Actually we're not even aware of two people who need this, but we'll assume they're out there.
