For the forseeable future I will only have the free program Mixxx available to me. Does anyone know how to get this app to work with it?

Program looks cool. You should get MIDI Designer Lite (free) and see what's available as far as generic MIDI. Generally, for a dedicated DJ app, you'd want a dedicated DJ controller.
