MIDI Designer compatible with Zivix PUC? - MIDI Designer Q&A

in How does MIDI Designer work with X? by adamixoye (500 points)
It should definitely work, but... I've just sent an email to the manufacturer, so let's see see if they respond first.

Thanks!
Just purchased MD pro. Seems like a great product. Considering a live scenario with my guitar rig, an MD on iPad and the PUC for connectivity to floorboard midi gear. Seems the Zivix guys recently added firmware to support MIDI-IN. Is there a confirmation yet that MD and PUC will work together? If so, things are about to get real interesting...
Thanks Manny. No response from the manufacturer (not that they didn't respond, but that they didn't have time to test nor to send me a unit), but the real question is: can MD see the PUC Connect app?

On the other hand: isn't our pedalboard going to be plugged into something anyway? One way to go is Pedalboard -> Computer (is there a computer in your rig) -> MD via MusicIoApp.com (which we make).
Keyboardist/DJ's typically use laptops, but most guitarists I work with have no computer in the live rig. Adding a computer to the setup just for this purpose would be prohibitive. In my live setup, there are a few digital pedals (Strymon, etc..), a marshall head that supports midi for channel / mode / boost switching and a (future) pedal looper that supports midi to control signal routing to bring pedals in/out of the chain. "Wireless" access to these devices from an iPad in a live setting is where I'm headed. I'm considering something like the PUC on the pedalboard and an iPad with custom MD-controls as it would definitely open up opportunities for things otherwise out of reach when on stage. Regardless, MD is still useful to me as an in-the-studio deep dive editor for some of my hardware units. However, if it could be incorporated both in the studio and in a live guitar rig, that's certainly a bigger win.
My current use of MIDI Designer is MIDI Designer connected to a M-Audio UNO USB-MIDI converter into pedals on my pedalboard.  I am interested in the Zivix PUC because I want to make this connection wireless.  MIDI Designer --> WiFi --> PUC --> MIDI cable --> pedals.

Based on this article, the PUC can do what I want, as long as MD and the PUC will talk to each other:

And based on this, you might not even need to have MD see the PUC app?

Great find: if they use rtpMIDI MD can connect without even using an additional app. Go for it and please comment back to let us know how it goes. If all fails, I'll buy the PUC off you personally ;)

Best!

Just ordered one!  I believe it will work one way or another, but I'll hold you to that if it doesn't.  :-)  I should have it late this week or early next week.  I'll try to report back by next week.
Thanks, looking forward to hearing your findings.

I received the PUC and confirmed that it works with MIDI Designer, at least for my setup and purposes.  I used the PUC Connect app and MIDI Designer sees it as a connection on the configuration screen.  I connected, and MIDI Designer is sending signals to the PUC wirelessly, and then the PUC is passing those signals to my pedal board through a wired connection.  I didn't test EVERYTHING, obviously, but I have no reason to believe it doesn't work as advertised.

We've had a few confirmations of this, also with the PUC+. Thank you!
