Positive and Negative values (-63 to +63) e.g. PAN controls - MIDI Designer Q&A

You will need to solve this with a sequential super control.

- Super Control SC
- Sub Control Sub1
- Sub Control Sub2
- Sysex of Sub1 is 43 10 3E 19 01 00 36 00 01 00 01 0F 7F 7F 7F V. Midi min-max is 65-127
- Sysex of Sub2 is 43 10 3E 19 01 00 36 00 01 00 01 00 00 00 00 V. Midi min-max is 0-63.
- SC needs to be set to Sequential in the Super Control options.
- Hide Sub1 and Sub2 in performance.

SC needs to display the pan settings.
Very cool. Thank you very much, I'll give it a try.
Let me know how it goes.
It works for transmitting the pan message via rotating the supercontrol, the subcontrols respond properly.
Also, the subcontrols respond properly to received pan messages, but the pan position is not reflected on the supercontrol. How do I get the supercontrol to reflect the received message?
I don't know how the supercontrol can reflect the change. The admin will have to chime in.

Admin. Could you remove my answer? I pressed the wrong button when I wanted to comment and it ended up being an answer.
This might help. Supercontrols only respond to subcontrol changes if they have just one subcontrol. I could definitely be persuaded to change this in the future, but it's a rule that's added a degree of sanity to the flexibility. The concern is that it breaks the sync between subs and supercontrols, but I'm beginning to think that whether the subcontrol spins the super or not, that same sync-interruption happens.

But for right now, this is the policy...
So at this point, there is no solution?
Not in 1.7. Would you be interested in testing solutions for this issue when we can roll out an alpha for version next?
Absolutely!
If it's possible to implement a single control that can do positive and negative sysex with 5-byte values that would be even better.

I'm also still holding out for the ability to not have stepper controls "wrap around".

I have a lot of designs to do that require these functions and would be happy to speak more about what I'm looking to do and the specific MIDI requirements.
Okay, that's great. Both of these suggestions are very interesting and we should be getting back into next version development soon. I'll ping you when we have something ready to test
Excellent! I look forward to it.
