Why doesn't a knob send Bank MSB data but a slider does? - MIDI Designer Q&A

Sounds like a bug, but I will check within the next few hours. Make sure your knob is not a supercontrol, because then it won't send (by default).
Ahhh, my bad, sorry. I had removed all the sub controls but didn't de-activate the super control button. Any ideas on how to cet this up to change patches on the Arturia Minimoog? It needs Bank & SubBank sent along with the preset number each time, so just sending the preset alone doesn't work. http://www.arturia.com/evolution/kb/?View=entry&EntryID=105
Have you seen this question http://mididesigner.com/qa/23/bank-change-then-program-change? So you can string any number of messages together, but it still might not do what you want.
Oooooh, almost does it. Thing is, then I need to set for example 3 knobs (Bank/SubBank/Preset). Then a "Supercontrol" knob controls the 3 of those. So say Bank 1 is basses, SubBank 1 is synth basses, and then we have presets 1 - 20. I can set the first 2 knobs to only transmit "Bank Select 1", and "Bank Select (Fine) 1", and then my 3rd knob actually switches the presets 1- 20. I could then repeat that for Bank 2 and so on, so I'd basically have a supercontrol knob for every Bank to switch through it's presets - if only you could assign Bank Select to more than one knob.  Is there any way to enable that? I know it can be on different midi channels but that doesn't help. Loving this app btw, good stuff indeed :-)
I knew that question was coming! Right now there's no way to do what you want to do easily, so for now you'll end up with a whole mess of controls. In the future, I hope to provide a mechanism to handle this case, since it's pretty common. Still thinking of how to do this, etc...

Bank Select AND prog change in one single MIDI Message are probably coming soon, but I want to figure out how best to do this.

Thanks again for all the dialog today, for the kind words, and of course, for checking out (and buying) MIDI Designer. If you haven't written a (glowing) review in the App Store and want to, please know that it helps the App a lot.

Also, feel free to sign up with this Q&A site so you can get points and participate as other users ask questions. If you want, of course...

Best!

OK, thanks for the quick reply. Just tried it and for now I can at least scroll through all my bass presets which is great!

Perhaps you could try some sort of button board that can be controlled via a supercontrol. So you could have a row of buttons for bank, and a row for subbank (with each button being allowed to send "Bank Select" for just one value), and whichever is currently selected gets transmitted when the supercontrol knob is moved (perhaps also add some "preset -/+" button controller for program changes).

I always leave good reviews when they're deserved, so off to do that now :-)
Awesome, thanks for that!

Have you checked out button groups? You might be able to get what you want after all.

Thanks again!
If you were able to assign Bank & Bank Select to more than one thing, that would definitely work I think. So that's the only problem. Perhaps you could allow that with a warning that it's already assigned or something?
Let's take this discussion offline, and we can resume here when necessary. Drop me an email via mididesigner.com/contact or just guess an address (99% chance of success), please.
responded to your email already (twice). did you not get it? might be a spam filter prob?

Nope, it's not broken. OP had the knob marked as a supercontrol, so it wasn't sending.

In 1.4, there will be an onscreen warning when supercontrols with no subs are being moved.
