Ableton's clip names in a Label

Question

Hello everybody ! At 1st please excuse me for my poor English, I'm a new French user... I want to control Ableton Live with my iPad. I don't have any problem with midi mapping for buttons & knobs. But is it possible to send the Ableton's clips label (text) to my iPad, I want to display the name of the clips on my iPad.

Hi Joachim and thanks for your question. Your English is great.

It is not currently possible to get that data back from Ableton, as there are no standard MIDI messages to do this. It is not impossible to do, but it would require scripting on the Ableton Live side. Other apps do this via scripts, like Touchable. In the future, MIDI Desigenr might implement this functionality.

thanks for your answer. It's possible with TouchOSC via LiveControl. Is it possible to use LiveControl with Midi Designer ? It will be usefull to get back the clip's color data too.

Hi. Sorry I didn't see this comment earlier. At present, we don't work with LiveControl. I agree that getting a clip's color and title would be great. In addition, seeing the VU meters for the clip would be great. We don't do this (yet). Thanks again for your interest!

One thing to check out is STC with Ableton Live. http://stc.wiffbi.com/ Note sure what it will do yet.
