It would be really odd if the RME were filtering sysex. Can you think of ANY way to test? You could connect out to in, perhaps?
More than likely, though, it's some channel setting or something that you're missing for the layout... or your synth. I'll ping Rainer, the creator, to see if he can chime in (Europe, so tomorrow, or later this week)...

Hi Fab,

Are you running it through a sequencer? Make sure that isn't filtering anything. If you're using Ableton Live, I believe you're out of luck because that sequence does not do Sysex if I'm correct.

Thanks for the hint.

Well - im running it routed through Cubase LE AI Elements 6. I already loaded a SysEx-Sequence-file for the original presets into cubase and dumped that to my MKS 50 which worked fine.

But of course i don't know if SysEx is filtered when ROUTING the MIDI Signal on a blank channel. Any idea where to look for that setting?
