Hi and thanks for this report. We're MIA and won't be able to replicate and begin fixing (assuming it's a bug) until Tuesday, July 8. We're hoping it's an issue with your layout, but we'll work this out one way or another.
Hi, I just read this over and can already tell by the description that it's a bug in 1.6.2. As I understand it, you're saying that the incoming MIDI is scaling to the MIDI min-max, when in fact it should be limited by the MIDI min-max.

I'll have to replicate here, but if I do, it's definitely a bug and we'll move to fix it ASAP.

However, what is the correct behavior in the following situations, when the external MIDI is values 3,5,10,50?

1) MIDI Designer control is MIDI min-max 1-8
2) MIDI Designer control is MIDI min-max 8-1
3) MIDI Designer control with named ticks with MIDI values 2, 6, 7
4) MIDI Designer control with named ticks with MIDI values 6, 5, 2
5) MIDI Designer control with named ticks with MIDI values 7, 2, 6

Hmmm... we'll be meditating on this too, but hopefully will issue an update shortly.

Thanks!

Thanks for the response. I guessed it might be a scaling problem, although some of my controls appear to work and some don't, so that's a mystery. There may also be something wrong with my layout.

My own take on the scenarios you mention would be:

For MIDI values 3,5,10,50...

1) MIDI Designer control is MIDI min-max 1-8

10 & 50 would be out of range and ignored.

2) MIDI Designer control is MIDI min-max 8-1

10 & 50 ignored, 8-1 mapped as 1-8, but 8 is fully anti-clockwise?

3) MIDI Designer control with named ticks with MIDI values 2, 6, 7
4) MIDI Designer control with named ticks with MIDI values 6, 5, 2
5) MIDI Designer control with named ticks with MIDI values 7, 2, 6

For me, using named ticks implies that I'm only interested in sending and receiving those values, so anything else could be ignored.

This is just my very blinkered view - there will be lots of use cases I'm not aware of. I'm a guitarist and engineer, and I'm using MIDI for a guitar-focussed project  (see http://zaardvark.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/pedalboard-controller-mk2.html ). I have almost no experience with MIDI for keyboards.
Thanks. Any additional information to expand "some of my controls appear to work and some don't" would be helpful to figure out what's up in 1.6.2.
Hi, please get in touch via Config -> Actions -> Send Us Email so we can get you set up on the Beta Team... if you want. It would be very helpful.
