Can MD send a message in response to an incoming message?

Is there a facility or object that will do this? I want to implement a handshake protocol so I can emulate various hardware controllers specific to a certain DAW . I've got transport, faders and banking implemented to a degree but I think there's some functionality that's dependent on the host knowing what controller manufacturer it's talking to. So basically I'm looking to 'spoof' a hardware controller

Well... there are some things you could definitely experiment with, because MD will send subcontrols' values in response to incoming supercontrols, so it's possible, but it's going to take some fiddling (probably a lot)... in your arsenal are sequential subcontrols, buttons groups, and crossfader overlap. The official answer is, "no," but really you might be able to achieve what you want.
