Is it advisable to have more than 128 ticks in a slider?

I am working on a layout for the CS6X. The number of waves in one part is more than 128. I would like to name all those ticks if it's possibile but don't want to find out at 128 that it's not possible.

What type of MIDI message is it? That's fundamental to answering this question.
I figured it out already. It's possible when it's a sysex message. Thanks for the help, though.
