howto start stop loop in beatmaker 2 drumpad with FCB1010 pedal - MIDI Designer Q&A

Hi Ron,

The FCB1010 pedal that you're describing is "momentary" and you want to translate it to type "toggle." MD is set up to handle this singular situation.

The short of it is: put a pedal mapped to that note-on/off on a pedalboard and make it a toggle. That toggle, because it's on a pedalboard, will react to a momentary button on external hardware (your situation).

That toggle is then the supercontrol of a button on a regular MIDI Designer page. The button the regular page is the one you want to map to Beatmaker, NOT the pedalboard button.

Pedalboards are exposed by sliding the current page "up," but you have to enable that option in Config -> Pedalboards (you should probably enable for design-mode only).

I will try to elaborate more later on today (hopefully with screen grabs and that), but here you've got enough instructions to get you there.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks!
Dan

User response:
Yep I send a cc message with my fcb1010 to a pedalboard button and that button supercontrols a normal button that sends a midinote out to beatmaker.....works like a charm haha. (I have a Axiom pro keyboard that functions as a midi port)
