You need just one more button.

Make a new button, momentary, supercontrol, assign your main control above as a subcontrol, options as supercontrol - send current value.

In the main control, relationships tab, select the new button above for Enable/Disable Button.

Now you can adjust the L and V controls as desired with no transmission.  When you press the new momentary button, the selected values are sent.

Thanks for your response, jkhiser!
Excellent! I think that will work if I understand correctly. You mention,  “In the main control, relationships tab, select the new button above for Enable/Disable Button.”  I’m having a little trouble finding that option.  Instead I tried, “Send Only on Supercontrol Change”. which seems to do the trick.  Is this the same thing?
