Here's a layout for another great firmware/MIDI interface update by Bob Grieb (http://tauntek.com/OSCar.htm).

If both MIDI In and Out are connected all controls update automatically when you switch between patches (known as Voices on the OSCar).

You can basically use any iOS compatible MIDI interface. In my case I am using a Wi-Fi MIDI connection to my Mac where my DAW is running, which communicates with the OSCar via an Unitor8 USB MIDI interface. That way I am able to record the MIDI controller movements from MIDI Designer on the iPad in my DAW on the Mac. Hope this helps.
