Confusion re: Sending SYSEX with L=1, L=2 ... L=16 to Access Virus C 'Multi' - MIDI Designer Q&A

in How does MIDI Designer work with X? by flexoffset (530 points)
JK to confirm but this is a known hug. What's the simplest possible configuration for me to reproduce the bug and prove when I have a fix?
MDP2 is sending the SysEx as programmed, but the board is not responding?  Relook at the Virus SysEx definition to see how you access the different parts - maybe the digit after the 7x.  SysEx is not "channelized" messages - you cannot arbitrarily append a channel value at the end.
Good heavens you are right. I missed the forest for the trees on this. Indeed the Virus manual discussed this and I completely forgot it is handled a different way. I'll come back with a breakdown for anyone's future reference once I get it nailed down. Or you can delete this question since I was operating on a flawed premise.
NP.   Not knowing the Virus, but a quick look at the manual, I suspect that the correct SysEx string is 00 20 33 01 00 72 L 20 V.  Looks like valid values for L are 00-0F and 40.  You can get the 00 .. 0F 40 using named ticks.
Indeed. It's working. Thank you.  00-0F are the 16 multi sections and 40 is in single mode.
Thanks Kenyon, rockstar as always. So there are no known bugs on sysex. Send right now?
As far as I am concerned it is working beautifully on VirusC multis. The issue was foggy brain on my part.
re: knowns bugs on Sysex - there are none on transmit.  The only bug is recognizing certain configurations of L and V on MIDI receive.  qa/9103 has the correct info.  The observations spreadsheet wasn't clear, now corrected.
Thanks, all clear now, much appreciated!
