Bluetooth LE Midi Device Requirements requirements with MIDI Designer Pro 2

Question

I'm Designing my own BLE HW/SW  interface to attach to  a VG-99 guitar Modeller. What does it take to be recognized as a BLE Midi device from your end ?  I was hoping to implement something simple like a BLE module running a UART like pass through mode profile to keep it simple.

Plan to use Iphone on my guitar or Ipad on a Mike stand.

Hi and thanks for your question. MIDI-over-bluetooth was included in MIDI Designer in Version 1.7.3 as seen here.

We use the built-in CoreMIDI-over-Bluetooth implementation by Apple. The implementation is opaque from our perspective (here's one starting point). Basically if you can connect from a Yosemite or better OSX machine, or an iOS 8 or better device, than your target is good to go.

We also support MIDI-over-bluetooth with certain devices including:

• Yamaha BT-01 [ Sweetwater Link ]
• Avatar BM-A01 [ Amazon Link ]
