Hi Dan,
Great product! I am using MIDI Designer Pro for a number of studio related things and I ran into a problem controlling my Axe-FX Ultra. After using MIDI Monitor to sniff messages and fiddling with the Sysex settings for a while I think I know how to ask my questions.
Setup:
Knob: Normal
Display Min/Max: 0-254
Ticks: 255
MIDI Min/Max: 0-254
Sysex Bytes: 00 01 74 01 02 0A 06 01 00 V
Checksum: None
Bytes in Value: 2
Question 1: Can MIDI Designer be setup to send the values 0 - 254 across 2 bytes as shown in the Axe-FX value grid located here?:
http://axefx.fr/AxeFXArchive/Docs%20%26%20Manuals/Axe-FX%20SysEx%20Messages.htm#hex
Explanation on the WIKI:
The old Standard/Ultra devices used to store the parameter values on *most* knobs as 0-254. This was split into two bytes, XX YY where XX was the lowest 4 bits of the value, and YY was the highest 4 bits.
Question 2: If the above can be accomplished as an option, can the knob be setup so that 0 is the "7 o'clock" position and 254 is the "5 o'clock" position? Right now, no matter what I do the 0 - 254 range is stuck between 7 o'clock and roughly 9 o'clock. I am guessing this is due to the maximum range of the 2 bytes being from 0 - 16,383.
Thanks! If you can do this I will will happily provide a bunch of Axe-FX Ultra layouts - using MIDI Designer with my fingers is far less stressful than reaching for a mouse and Axe Edit.
Rock on!
Mike
