+MD 3.0 is now subscription-based. This was a difficult (and probably unpopular) decision, but we are self-funded and do need some small revenue stream to keep bringing you increased capability. If you bought MD 2.0 in June 2016, you have received 50+ updates at no additional cost. Many other music apps have come and gone - we want to keep bringing new capability as MIDI continues to evolve in its 40th year.
