This is loosely related to this question: http://mididesigner.com/qa/5103/how-does-your-midi-targets-bulk-dump-work  If you have any insight, please share.
Hi Michele. I am looking for a MidiDesigner layout created for Digital Performer 9. You mention that you have made custom consoles for DP, but have you done one or two layouts for MidiDesigner. If so, where can I find them?
Hello daerp1
At the time, I created some custom consoles for Performer 5.5. They were meant to be used with Roland M-GS64 and Yamaha MU90R, to automate their volumes, internal effects and a bare minimum editing (CC#71, 72, 73 and 74).
As far as I know those consoles can be imported into Digital Performer 9, although I haven't done yet.
At present I've never created any MidiDesigner layout, mainly for a matter of time.
In the begininnig I bought MidiDesigner because I would have created a custom control for my Roland JX-10, then I found an already done layout, thus I gave up developing my own one.

This type of thing could certainly be done in MIDI Designer in most cases, but it's not a sysex librarian per se.  So there are two aspects to this:

  1. Capturing sysex dumps: you can do this in MD using the Learn function (e.g., for buttons), but it's a design mode function. The name of the patch would be the name of the button... this would all work but might be a bit clumsier than the workflow that you're thinking of.
  2. If the Yamaha instrument can be controlled at a finer level (adjusting parameters via MIDI), then MD would be the perfect tool. We do have support for layout-wide presets, which would allow you to keep the patches on MD itself.
I hope this gets the conversation moving forward. Please comment on this answer to discuss.
Thanks!
