Summary: Three layouts for the Volca Series by Korg. In these three layouts, LouisB manages to control most parameters of the Volca Keys, Volca Bass and Volca Beats. The Volca series is pretty amazing. To hear Korg tell it: "Following in the footsteps of the monotron, monotribe, and MS-20 Mini analog synthesizers, Korg announces the Volca series. Volca is a new lineup of EDM production tools comprised of three distinct models: the Volca Keys lead synthesizer, the Volca Bass synthesizer, and the Volca Beats rhythm machine. These powerful and fun-to-use true-analog devices deliver a diverse array of fat sounds that can be obtained only from an analog synthesizer." And amazing isn't amazing without control... hence these three awesome layouts!

Tiny little bundles of analog joy, that don't break the bank and yet pack a powerful punch.

My first was the Volca bass which I got recently and I've been playing around with it.

It makes sone pretty interesting sounds.

While mostly everything has a direct control on the unit, sometimes it's handy to have remote control.

Unfortunately the MIDI implementation is not very extensive, but I've added what I can see works and I hope that Korg address some of the shortcommings with a firmware update sometime.

So here's my simple layout, a start at it anyway.

I'll update should new MIDI features get added. Also should look at what can be controlled on the Beats too shortly, when mine arrives :)

I remixed a few things (and perhaps broke some).

Changes:

• Used piano keys
• Moved stuff around (for better? for worse?)
• Changed Pitch Bend to be 129 ticks, -64 to +64

Great, nice one. I forgot there were proper piano keys :)

Although there's not much MIDI control for the Volca the XY pads make for some interesting effects. Might try some other combinations.

I pray to Korg that they extend the Midi control a little bit more!

Beats next, hope to get one for Christmas :D

haha, yeah you're right. I realise I'm being woefully naive here :) In fact some of these parts might be purely in the analog circuitry too, so not even possible to control by Midi at all. Still, you can get a close imitation of VCF cutoff freq using EG Intensity. Resonance has no equivalent, but this is tweaked less often, so can be set up at the start of a sequence.
